MUTARS® Humeral Diaphyseal Implant

Design Rationale

The MUTARS® Diaphyseal implant is a modular system comprising the diaphyseal component itself (available in a silver-coated and/or a titanium nitride (TiN) coated options), the connecting part and extension pieces (available in a silver-coated options), cementless and cemented stems plus a range of bolts or screws to securely connect the impant construct.

The silver coating option is ideal where infection is a concern (e.g. if the patient‘s immune system has been suppressed by chemo- or radiotherapy).

The titanium alloy (TiAl6V4) cemented diaphyseal component comes in a single length and two diameters (8mm, 9mm). This should always be implanted in the shortest remaining bone segment.

The diaphyseal component comes with its connecting part to connect directly to the stem at the opposite end of a reconstruction of 80mm. Alternatively one of three TiAl6V4 extension pieces (20mm, 40mm, 60mm) can be placed between the connecting part and the stem for reconstructions up to 140mm.
